The Summer Holiday

By S.E. Lynes
The Summer Holiday by S.E. Lynes digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

‘Utterly gripping… Had me racing through the pages at the brilliant twists. I instantly knew that this was one story I wasn’t going to be able to put down… I have devoured page after page, completely hooked… Crazy good… I couldn’t read quick enough.’ @rubie_reads, ⭐⭐⭐⭐

One loving couple. One surprise guest. One week to destroy everything…

When the doorbell rings, I take one last look round the villa. The nuts and olives are in bowls; the white wine is chilling in the fridge; everything is ready for my old college friend, the guest I’m dying to impress.

When I open the door, Coco steps from the dusty street into the cool tiled hall, as effortlessly beautiful as ever. But then her face freezes in horror, her mouth falling open. I turn to see my husband Jeff behind me, his eyes wide, his cheeks pale.

After a moment, they both smile, pretending nothing happened at all. But I know what I saw.

This holiday was meant to rescue my marriage, not ruin it.

But the connection between my friend and my husband isn’t what I thought.

All three of us have something to lose, and something to fight for.

And when the truth comes out, not all of us will survive…

From the no.1 bestselling author S.E. Lynes comes a brilliantly gripping thriller that will have you racing through the pages and gasping out loud at the twists. Fans of Paula Hawkins, Lisa Jewell and Gillian Flynn will love The Summer Holiday.

The Summer Holiday Reviews

3.5
“Thank to Bookouture, S. E. Lynes and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review. I was pulled in right from the beginning. Then it slowed down. Then all of a sudden, Holy Crap. A few twists and turns made it just right. I was not a fan of the main female character at first. Honestly she was annoying me. Then, she took a 180. Loved the ending. The only thing I’d like to see is a sequel. I would definitely recommend this author. I’ll be looking for Lynes great next read.”
“The Summer Holiday was so good! I like that there were characters I adored as well as characters that I couldn't stand. This book definitely had realistic characters which is always a bonus. I didn't find this book to be super twisty but it still held my attention.”
“The Summer Holiday by S.E. Lynes Published: May 9, 2023 Bookouture Pages: 369 Genre: Psychological Fiction KKECReads Rating: 5/5 I received a copy of this book for free, and I leave my review voluntarily. S.E. Lynes is the Amazon #1 best-selling author of THE HOUSEWARMING, VALENTINA, MOTHER, THE PACT, THE PROPOSAL, THE WOMEN, THE LIES WE HIDE, CAN YOU SEE HER? HER SISTER's SECRET and #10 best seller, THE BABY SHOWER. A former BBC Producer, she has lived in France, Spain, Scotland, and Italy and is now settled in Greater London. After completing her MA, S E Lynes taught creative writing at Richmond Adult Community College for ten years. She now combines writing, mentoring and lecturing in Richmond Borough. “You owe me.” Kate and Jeff are on holiday, and Kate is hoping they will be able to rekindle their marriage. Their daughter is about to leave for college, and it will just be them. When Kate sees someone from their college days, she is floored. Coco Moss, the coolest girl at uni, is here on vacation. Now, Kate hopes to connect with Coco finally. And Coco hopes to get revenge. Holy buckets. This was intense. I love how S.E. Lynes tells a story. I was hooked from the first chapter. This is a fast-paced thriller with so many unexpected twists. Kate was sweet. I wanted to hug her because she was so lonely in her marriage. Her husband was a successful lawyer, and they had a great life. But material things aren’t everything. Jeff was a putz. I didn’t like him from the start. He was selfish and cold and had such arrogance about him. Coco was also a nightmare, selfish and calculating. This story unfolds and descends into chaos. The pacing is frantic, and the twists are insane. I could not stop reading. The floor dropped from under me several times, and I could not turn the page fast enough.”
“Kate and Jeff have been together since Uni, but after drifting apart over the last few years, Kate is hoping that their first kid-free holiday will help to get them back on track. When Kate is out shopping in the local town and sees the popular girl she was desperate to be accepted by at Uni. Coco is still as glamourous as ever and Kate can't resist chatting to her. It turns out they are staying close to each other and Kate invites her to their villa for drinks. What she was not expecting was both Coco and Jeff's reactions when they meet later and when Kate starts to dig deeper into why are they acting so weird with each other, she uncovers much more than she was expecting. This was a bit of a slow-burn to start, but soon kicked off into a twisty tale that kept me reading to find out what was going on! Using different character narratives and a then and now timeline it is well-rounded and unravels at a great pace.”
