“Slow to start but by the end it was a page turner, and had a few scenes that had me audibly gasping and then my husband or kid would say “what” and then I’d say “nevermind” and then they say “no what????” and then I’d say “this metaphysical thriller about a woman in a dissociative fugue just revealed a very interesting twist” and they’d say “oh.””

“The premise is intriguing. The interspersed snippets of “true story” were more interesting than the actual story. It would be nice to know if those vignettes are actually true. It’s difficult to tell bc they’re read in the narrator’s voice, with no indication of real life reference. How very current to tie in a (fictional?) pandemic. There is a somewhat tangential storyline that could have been omitted. The end seemed blasé compared to the build up in the rest of the book. Tidy, convenient ending though.”
