The Stories of Eva Luna
ByPublisher Description
Told in the voice of Isabel Allende’s beloved character Eva Luna, a “distinctive, powerful, and haunting” (Los Angeles Times) collection of short fiction by one of the most iconic and acclaimed writers of our time.
Eva Luna is a young woman whose powers as a storyteller bring her friendship and love. Lying in bed with her European lover, refugee and journalist Rolf Carlé, Eva answers his request for a story “you have never told anyone before” with these twenty-three samples of her vibrant artistry. Interweaving the real and the magical, she explores love, vengeance, compassion, and the strengths of women, creating a world that is at once poignantly familiar and intriguingly new.
Rendered in her sumptuously imagined, uniquely magical style, The Stories of Eva Luna is the cornerstone of Allende’s work. This treasure trove of brilliantly crafted stories is a superb example of a writer working at the height of her powers.

“Cuentos de Eva Luna es un festín de relatos que celebran la diversidad del alma humana. Isabel Allende da voz a personajes intensos, a veces trágicos, a veces entrañables, siempre profundamente vivos. Cada historia es un pequeño universo cargado de emoción, deseo y justicia poética.
Narrados con la sensibilidad y fuerza que caracterizan a Eva, estos cuentos confirman el poder transformador de las palabras. Una obra luminosa y encantadora.”

“It might be my favorite book I’ve ever read, and if you ever take a recommendation from an internet stranger, let it be to read The Stories of Eva Luna. I don’t think I’ll ever shut up about this book.
The beauty of this particular compilation of short stories is that I know I’ll be able to read it again and again… There are so many different (and incredible) narratives that it will feel fresh and new every time.
If you’ve read it, drop a comment because I’m dying to know what particular stories are other readers’ favs💗”
