“This was such a fun story!! It definitely had the vibes of "Alice in Wonderland," but in space, especially when they first went into the trilithons. I loved the descriptions of thr worlds they traveled to, the multicolored moving road was so cool! Very Mario cart lol. The 4 main characters, Will, Ram, Lupe, and Derek all worked well together, with distinct personalities (Will is quiet/reserved, Ram is stoic/realist, Lupe is a skeptical/adventurous, and Derek is curious/optimistic) Derek is definitely my favorite. I loved how excited, intrigued, curious, and optimistic he was! I was disappointed when he vanished from the journey in the middle. Same with Lupe, wish we could have spent more time with her. But it did give Will some time shine. Even though the book is told from his perspective, he didnt really talk a lot in the beginning, which seemed odd. Personally, I felt the middle dragged a bit since they were stuck on one planet, but it grew on me, especially with the introduction to characters such as Celia and Kenleth (sorry about spelling, listened to this one), and the action of the rebellion and disease outbreak. Kenleth was such a good addition to the group, such a wonderful kid. In my head, he was the Corn Kid from that one Recess Therapy video from a few years back lol. On the other characters, the tragic romance between Ram and Celia was a nice addition. I loved watching the group figure out the trilithons and how all of the artifacts and space tech came to be, especially seeing how excited they got. Will definitely grew as a character, he had a solid arc, same with Ram and fulfilling his destiny. I could see this being a movie or TV show! Probably gonna draw some fanart of this one!
(As many of the books Ive been reading since April, I discovered this book since it was narrated by Harlan Ellison. Once again, he has a lovely narration. To be fair, Im gonna love anything he reads, he has such a good voice for it lol!)”“Great book! This was my first Jack Williamson story. I will definitely check out more of his work.”
