The Stone of Farewell by Tad Williams digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

From master storyteller and New York Times-bestseller Tad Williams comes the second book in the landmark epic fantasy saga of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn.

Tad Williams introduced readers to the incredible fantasy world of Osten Ard in his internationally bestselling series Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. The trilogy inspired a generation of modern fantasy writers, including George R.R. Martin, Patrick Rothfuss, and Christopher Paolini, and defined Tad Williams as one of the most important fantasy writers of our time.

“One of my favorite fantasy series.” —George R. R. Martin
“Groundbreaking.” —Patrick Rothfuss
“One of the great fantasy epics of all time.” —Christopher Paolini

BOOK TWO: STONE OF FAREWELL

It is a time of darkness, dread, and ultimate testing for the realm of Osten Ard, for the wild magic and terrifying minions of the undead Sithi ruler, Ineluki the Storm King, are spreading their seemingly undefeatable evil across the kingdom.

With the very land blighted by the power of Ineluki’s wrath, the tattered remnants of a once-proud human army flee in search of a last sanctuary and rallying point—the Stone of Farewell, a place shrouded in mystery and ancient sorrow.

An even as Prince Josua seeks to rally his scattered forces, Simon and the surviving members of the League of the Scroll are desperately struggling to discover the truth behind an almost-forgotten legend, which will take them from the fallen citadels of humans to the secret heartland of the Sithi—where near-immortals must at last decide whether to ally with the race of men in a final war against those of their own blood.

After the landmark Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy, the epic saga of Osten Ard continues with The Heart of What Was Lost. Then don’t miss the sequel trilogy, The Last King of Osten Ard, beginning with The Witchwood Crown!

The Stone of Farewell Reviews

4.0
“I really don’t feel like writing a full review right now. This was a great continuation to The Dragonbone Chair. The world opens up a lot more here, the story goes deeper, and the stakes definitely felt higher. This one felt more unpredictable than the first book, which I definitely appreciated. The characters are where this book truly shines for me. Simon is still at the heart of the story, but we get to spend much more meaningful time with other characters as well. Miriamele, I won’t lie, she got on my nerves quite a lot, but it finally felt like we’re getting some development from her, and I loved getting deeper into the struggles of characters like Binabik and Josua. Even the villains felt more fleshed out and threatening. I will say I struggled a bit with the pacing a bit; it took me longer to finish than I’d anticipated, but it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment.”
“I'm not sure how much I have to say, other than this book is pretty damn good None of the issues I found with The Dragonbone Chair are present here, which makes sense as it is directly picking up where that one left off. It isn't nearly to the same level, but it brought to mind Dune Messiah, and how Messiah is less Book 2 in a series, and more Part 3 of Dune. When reading this book, there was never really a PoV I dreaded getting to. Sure, I liked specific ones more than others, but it was a case of "Aw man that PoV was really good and I want to read more of it" and not "Aw man I hate the story of this PoV." Anyways, this series is damn good so far, and now it's time for To Green Angel Tower. Let's see if it finishes strong.”
