The Stolen Heir

By Holly Black
The Stolen Heir by Holly Black digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Return to the opulent world of Elfhame, filled with intrigue, betrayal, and dangerous desires, with this first book of a captivating new duology from the #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black.

A runaway queen. A reluctant prince. And a quest that may destroy them both.

Eight years have passed since the Battle of the Serpent. But in the icy north, Lady Nore of the Court of Teeth has reclaimed the Ice Needle Citadel. There, she is using an ancient relic to create monsters of stick and snow who will do her bidding and exact her revenge.

Suren, child queen of the Court of Teeth, and the one person with power over her mother, fled to the human world. There, she lives feral in the woods. Lonely, and still haunted by the merciless torments she endured in the Court of Teeth, she bides her time by releasing mortals from foolish bargains. She believes herself forgotten until the storm hag, Bogdana chases her through the night streets. Suren is saved by none other than Prince Oak, heir to Elfhame, to whom she was once promised in marriage and who she has resented for years.

Now seventeen, Oak is charming, beautiful, and manipulative. He’s on a mission that will lead him into the north, and he wants Suren’s help. But if she agrees, it will mean guarding her heart against the boy she once knew and a prince she cannot trust, as well as confronting all the horrors she thought she left behind.

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“This has been one of the more anticipated reads this month just based on the fact that I am in love with this verse but strangely had not read this the first time I read tcp. Wren, once known as Suren, is easily one of my favourite characters of this universe. It didn’t take long for her to climb he ranks right next to cardan and Jude, I am I love with her badly. To think of everything she has gone through and will have to go through just makes my head hurt, and I will support whatever she does because in my eyes she can really do no wrong. She is genuinely one of the strongest character, just based on sole will to keep going after everything she has been put through by her ‘parents’ or a sorry excuse of that. I cannot imagine how she does it. The constant adjustments that were required from her at such a young age, being ‘born’ in elfhame, thrown into he mortal world and only when she found her place there, taken back to elfhame, oh and dumped back to the m=mortal world when the plans of her ‘parents’ fell through. I really hope the next book delves into her human family and hopefully a reunion because I really hope she finds colour and comfort in that even though she is surely traumatised from tat glamoured event in the past. Considering her and oak, I will admit its different reading about oak in this light having read the cruel prince from Judes pov. But he is so charming, definitely a crown prince taught by cardan bomb and the roach. I love his little references to his sisters, more specifically Jude!!!! My everything really. I miss her already and I am glad to have small throwbacks to her. I can’t wait to read the next book, and finally see a little or married jurdan, even though I know its going the get tricky with the whole bridle situation.. I really came into this book hearing of betrayal and thinking oh no worried I will be on jurdans side, but now knowing wren and why she did it I really don’t blame her! Oak you were really suspicious, and you managed to keep a huge secret from her, knowing what she has been through and knowing where this betrayal location would be… like cmon bro think. I think they will be fine though, if jurdan can get through Jude killing balekin, the exile, the nixies and the queen of mirth stuff anything is possible for wrenoak. If not, wren please choose me, thank youuu”
