The Soft Machine
By William S. BurroughsPublisher Description
In Naked Lunch, William S. Burroughs revealed his genius. In The Soft Machine he begins an adventure that will take us even further into the dark recesses of his imagination, a region where nothing is sacred, nothing taboo. Continuing his ferocious verbal assault on hatred, hype, poverty, war, bureaucracy, and addiction in all its forms, Burroughs gives us a surreal space odyssey through the wounded galaxies in a book only he could create.

“3.5 ⭐️ rounded up?
This was certainly an interesting reading experience. Luckily I had prepared myself for just how interesting it was going to be and went into it with the advice of “don’t overthink the plot too much, if there is any”, which I would like to say helped.
This book actually had me taking physical notes of recurring themes and characters in an attempt to understand a book that had me forgetting everything I read on the previous page by the time I finished reading the current one.
I honestly think this was good fun and I’m excited to continue this trilogy, but I genuinely cant imagine a scenario in which someone asks me for book recommendations and this would even be a possible answer to consider.”
