The Siren's Song

By Katelyn Brehm
The Siren's Song by Katelyn Brehm digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

A woman who's lost everything. A demon without a care. And a chance encounter that sparks an unwanted passion.

Lena Sommer can't win. Her marriage is a failure. The yoga studio she founded no longer needs her. And she just lost her grandma, the only family she's ever known. Alone, grieving, and determined not to repeat the mistakes of her past, she tries to ignore the advances of a rakish singer she meets on the beach. But his carefree nature is infectious, and his mesmerizing voice proves too seductive to resist.

Elias Georgiou has it all—a loving family, the endless ocean, and, most importantly, his independence. Constrained by nothing but the pursuit of pleasure, the last thing he's interested in is a relationship with any of the countless admirers he charms with his song. Until he meets Lena, and a future with the resilient and courageous woman becomes more tempting than freedom.

Can Lena learn to trust herself and Elias in the face of past betrayal? Or will the enchanted song of a consummate bachelor ruin all hope for a future filled with love?

“This novella was good, but I feel like I got more out of the world building than the characters and story. Lena is a business owner who has returned to her home town after the loss of her grandmother, who was her only family. Elias is a siren, who lures women in with his powers and singing. He helps run his family business and lives with his cousin, Niko. I feel like this story was very rushed. I love older characters, but I feel like their ages were too old for the story. They read about 20s/30s to me. I also feel like there were additions that didn’t need to be in there and certain things could have had a deeper impact. For example, her finding out about him being a siren.. she basically accepts that he is but then when he sings to her she gets mad and ignores him for a few weeks, but then rushes back. I feel like their story would have been better if it was a full length novel and not a novella, that way we could get more background to siren’s and the magic, and more of their relationship. Overall, it was a quick good read.”

“I liked it. I enjoyed the fast pace of the book. This book is about Lena-who just lost her grandmother and newly divorced- who moves to her grandmother's house and meets this very handsome singer -Elias - whom she can't stay away from, because of his entrancing voice. Elias, on the other hand, doesn't want to be tied down in a relationship so he tries -despite being attracted to Lena - to not catch feelings for her. So basically we get to see how they both try and not fall for each other while also spending a lot of time together (story of their life). Now the book is genuinely enjoyable, the plot is good, although the supernatural aspect of it is lost, just a couple of mentions here and there, which I kind of understand given how short the book was and that the main focus was the romance. But I would have liked more material. I'd say that the one thing that I didn't like was the length of the book.I felt like the ending was rushed and too easy. I received a free ARC from Booksirens in exchange for my honest review”
