Why read on Fable?
Publisher Description
Newly turned vampire Bree Tanner lives in terror -- and must find her way out of untold danger -- in this pulse-pounding novella, a companion to Eclipse.
Bree Tanner, a self-described "vampire nerd" first introduced in Eclipse, lives in terror in a coven of newborn vampires. She is a member of Victoria's vampire army, and as that army closes in on Bella Swan and the Cullens, she finds her first friend and discovers a truth about daylight.
While fans may know how it ends, they don't yet have the full story: Bree's tale of danger, mystery, and romance is one for the books.
It's here! #1 bestselling author Stephenie Meyer makes a triumphant return to the world of Twilight with the highly anticipated companion, Midnight Sun: the iconic love story of Bella and Edward told from the vampire's point of view.
"People do not want to just read Meyer's books; they want to climb inside them and live there." -- Time
"A literary phenomenon." -- The New York Times

“A haunting and fast-paced companion to the Twilight saga, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner offers a gripping perspective from a character we only glimpsed in Eclipse. Bree, a 15-year-old recently turned vampire, is thrust into the chaos of a newborn army with no idea why she was turned or what lies ahead. As readers, we know she’s a pawn in Victoria’s plan to attack the Cullens—but Bree doesn’t, and that gap in knowledge creates a quiet, underlying tension throughout the novella.
Though brief, this book is surprisingly rich. It gives an immersive look into the brutal, confusing world of newborn vampires and how they’re manipulated. I especially enjoyed the insight into their inner workings and group dynamics—something the main series never fully explored. Bree is a compelling narrator: sharp, observant, and sympathetic despite the violence around her. There’s also a new vampire ability introduced that I found fascinating (no spoilers!), and it was refreshing to see a power that felt different from what we’d seen in the original quartet.
Overall, it’s a quick read but adds some depth to the Twilight universe. If you’re a fan of the series, I definitely recommend giving this one a chance—it might surprise you.”
