Publisher Description

Hugo Award finalist Daniel Polansky crafts an innovative, mind-bending fantasy mystery in The Seventh Perfection

When a woman with perfect memory sets out to solve a riddle, the threads she tugs on could bring a whole city crashing down. The God-King who made her is at risk, and his other servants will do anything to stop her.

To become the God-King's Amanuensis, Manet had to master all seven perfections, developing her body and mind to the peak of human performance. She remembers everything that has happened to her, in absolute clarity, a gift that will surely drive her mad. But before she goes, Manet must unravel a secret which threatens not only the carefully prepared myths of the God-King's ascent, but her own identity and the nature of truth itself.

Thinking Face“what if you could remember EVERYTHING, but only be told your story through the people you meet?”
Thinking Face“I don’t quite know what to say about this book because, to be entirely honest, I don’t think I understand what I read. The story is told through the main character’s memories, but only her memories of spoken word. There is no description of setting outside of what characters say, and there are no dialogue tags. It’s just the words they say and nothing else, not the main character’s reactions to or thoughts about them. And yet, the world is so fascinating and masterfully woven, I feel I could reread this book a dozen times and learn something new about it with each one. The concept is so unique and absolutely unlike anything I’ve ever read before. It’s pretty short, so if you don’t mind coming away a bit lost, I would highly highly recommend picking it up.”
