The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo

By Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From the New York Times bestselling author of Atmosphere and Daisy Jones & the Six—an entrancing and “wildly addictive journey of a reclusive Hollywood starlet” (PopSugar) as she reflects on her relentless rise to the top and the risks she took, the loves she lost, and the long-held secrets the public could never imagine.

Fascinating, emotional and will be hard to put down. For fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid, this is her best work yet.” —Associated Press

Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now?

Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.

Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ‘80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways.

“Heartbreaking, yet beautiful” (Jamie Blynn, Us Weekly), The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is “Tinseltown drama at its finest” (Redbook): a mesmerizing journey through the splendor of old Hollywood into the harsh realities of the present day as two women struggle with what it means—and what it costs—to face the truth.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo Reviews

Loudly Crying Face“evelyn hugo is such a complex character i rooted for her from the start and i grew to love her in the end. i was so sad for her and celia and harry and john cuz what </3 they all deserved more time with each other. i hate that they had to hide but i also love how they found family in their own little world together. i love how harry was there for her from the very start :( i almost cried when he died :( IT’S SO SAD HOW EVELYN LOST LITERALLT WVERYONE DEAR TO HER BRUH <//3 i know she made poor choices and she was selfish and she did literally everything to climb to the top of the hollywood mountain but i must also commend her for it because she knew what she wanted and she did what she had to do and more to get all of it. i love how this book showed me different facets of love, and the realities of what we are really capable of doing all for the sake of love. and forgiving the people we love. and making time and actively making choices to let them know we love them. i love love. this book reinforced to me that everyone just needs a little bit of love in their lives. i think everybody should read this book at least once in their lifetime. it’s really so beautifully written i think i would love to read this again someday. easily one of my top favorite books ever. my first taylor jenkins reid book and i’m so happy!! i love how complex evelyn & celia’s love story was. i’m so sad cuz they could’ve gotten more time with each other, but it’s so true how we really can’t have it all.”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“Good book the last minute turn was not expecting but great book all around.”
