Publisher Description

"When I read anything from Sheila Roberts, I know I will laugh, cry and close the book with a happy sigh." —RaeAnne Thayne

From USA TODAY bestselling author Sheila Roberts, three generations of travelers embark on a Christmas road trip filled with humor and heart, set against the snowy mountains of Washington State.

Michelle and Max are not planning on a happy holiday. Their marriage is in shambles and the D word has entered their vocabulary. But now their youngest daughter, Julia, wants everyone to come to her new house in Idaho for Christmas, and she’s got the guest room all ready for Mom and Dad. Oh, joy.

Their other daughters, Audrey and Shyla, are driving up from California and hoping to meet a sexy rancher for Audrey along the way. What they don’t plan on is getting stranded on a ranch when the car breaks down.

The ones with the shortest drive are Grandma and Grandpa—also known as Hazel and Warren. It’s still a bit of a trek, and Hazel doesn’t like the idea of driving all that way in snow, but Warren knows they’ll have no problem. They have a reliable car—and snow tires and chains if they need them. They’ll be fine.

Surprises lie in store for all three sets of intrepid travelers as they set out on three very different adventures, all leading to one memorable family Christmas.

The Road to Christmas Reviews

“I don’t think I’ve ever read a more boring and depressing book. All I gots to say”
“Picked this book up for a cute holiday read, but was disappointed. First off, the book should come with trigger warnings for body image issues and eating disorders. It got better as the book went on, but almost every single time food or eating was brought up in the first half of the book, some comment about the women’s weight or calories had to be tagged on. Woof. The “what else could go wrong?” with something else going wrong got tiring after a while. And the writing was incredibly repetitive with many of the characters having the same thoughts over and over or the same conversations over and over, which made the book hard to finish. I feel like the conflict resolution in some storylines within this book were not at all realistic or well developed. I did enjoy Audrey’s storyline, and the recipes at the end were a cute touch. However, this was a disappointing holiday book choice for me.”
“This book was truly heartwarming. In the beginning I felt all the sorrow of each character so vividly - the hurt, the disappointment, the unknown, the worry. We can all relate to each character in some way shape or form - they are us or someone we know. The story involved all ages, all life situations. It focused on what we all yearn for and require in life - forgiveness, hope, understanding, laughter, love, and family. I highly recommend. I listened via audiobook and loved it. p.s. I really need a Russ in my life. He gave me so many butterflies & talk about a true cowboy who is sure of himself.”
