The Road of Bones
ByPublisher Description
In this epic and immersive Viking-inspired romantic fantasy, a woman fleeing a ruthless assassin accidentally joins forces with agroup of thieves and must use all her cunning to escape with her life—and heart—intact.
Silla Nordvig is running for her life.
The Queen of Íseldur has sent warriors to bring Silla to Sunnavík, where death awaits her. When her father is killed, his last words set Silla on a perilous quest: travel the treacherous Road of Bones—a thousand-mile stretch haunted by warbands, creatures of darkness, and a mysterious murderer—and go to Kopa, where a shield-house awaits her.
After barely surviving the first stretch of road, a desperate Silla sneaks into a supply wagon belonging to the notorious Bloodaxe Crew. To make it to Kopa, she must win over Axe Eyes, the brooding leader of the Crew, while avoiding the Wolf, his distractingly handsome right-hand man. All the while, the queen's ruthless assassin hunts Silla obsessively.
Will Silla make it safely to Kopa? Or will she fall prey to the perils of the Road of Bones?

“Honestly, this book is well written. I feel like the biggest issue was that I hated the main characters.
Silla’s innocent act was so infuriating and it made me want to DNF. Silla acted sweet and innocent and but she was clearly putting our crew of main characters in danger on purpose, just so she can have protection. She keeps saying, I don’t want to lie to them, but she does it everyday! The other characters keep forgiving her over and over again. I think Silla is straight up evil actually because she could never admit to manipulating and taking advantage of the crew.
The romance came out of nowhere. All of the sudden Jonas started flirting really hard with Silla. It was like Jonas’ intense dialogue and thoughts did not match his interactions with Silla at all. There was no yearning or buildup to their kiss so when they did I was like ok… As their relationship goes on Jonas acts like he knows her so well, when he doesn’t she doesn’t even know herself (her backstory , her abilities). Also, I can’t stand in a romantasy when the male lead’s character motivation is 100% focused on the female lead. It actually doesn’t make any sense that Jonas would put his whole crew in danger for a lying girl who was using him, even after she told him she lied to him. For the majority of this book he doesn’t really know anything about (other than her body).
I’m sad to not like this book because the world ( setting , magic creatures) were awesome. I just didn’t like the characters and their character motivations just didn’t make sense to me. The characters in this book had no reason to like Silla at all!”
