“of the two freeman short stories i’ve read for my women in american literature class, “the revolt of mother” has definitely been my favorite. it was entertaining and funny and i found myself excited to see what would happen at the end! there’s also an interesting discussion to be had on the gender roles within this one because the characters in this story conform to those roles but are challenging them at the same time. neat.”

“absolutely brilliant book of stories, all muted revolts but revolts nonetheless. If you can find the version with Michele Clark's afterword it will make it 500x even more worth it.”
