The Red Brain
ByPublisher Description
The universe is dying. One by one the stars have winked out, swallowed by an ever-thickening tide of Cosmic Dust, until only mighty Antares remains — a single point of light in an infinite black. Beneath a crystal dome upon that last star, the final race in creation watches the encroaching night. They are no longer flesh and bone but towering columns of thought, sentient Brains who have outlived bodies and worlds alike.
For twelve thousand years no remedy has been found. Then, summoned to one last conference in the Hall of the Mist, a curious dull-red Brain rises from the assembly and announces what no one else has dared believe — the Dust has been conquered. Its joy is fierce. Its thoughts are strange. And as the others lay themselves open to receive the long-awaited salvation, the Red Brain begins its terrible song.
