The Rancher's Want Ad Mix-Up Reviews

3.5
“A sweet story that combines the Mail-Order Bride and Marriage of Convenience Trope. Easy read but not so light that it is drivel.”
“This book is a debut novel. All I can say is wow! This book is so good. Della comes to the Lamson home because she thinks that she answered a want ad for a teaching position. Turns out it was want ad for a wife, but the intended husband isn't the one who wrote it but his parents. Widowed with 3 sons, Hank does not want to get remarried. Especially when he thinks women just want his money which has been the case in the past after his wife died. Della makes it clear she did not. come to be a wife but a teacher. Hank decides it's his parents' fault for the misunderstanding and offers for her to teach his sons for a week while he pays for her to stay in the boardinghouse. However, Hanks mother Alice insists she stay in the family home. Hank doesn't like this but knows how his boys can be and figures she won't last through the week. Story goes on and Della and the boys learn to get along well and she also helps Alice out around the house. Roy, Hank's dad, also loves Della. Della loves them back and wants to stay on as teacher but how will she convince Hank? Hank is very fearful of anything happening to his family again or letting himself love again after his wife's death. He has a difficult time trusting people, especially Della. He thinks God is against him because of not saving his wife from death. I loved watching him learn to trust and come back to the Lord. I loved all the characters. This story is very clean. It has humor, serious moments, excitement and love. I loved how the story was not as predictable as you would think. It took turns I wasn't expecting. I can't wait for Megan Besing to come out with another book!”
