A queendom without an heir.
An ancient enemy awakens.

The House of Berethnet has ruled Inys for a thousand years. Still unwed, Queen Sabran the Ninth must conceive a daughter to protect her realm from destruction—but assassins are getting closer to her door.

Ead Duryan is an outsider at court. Though she has risen to the position of lady-in-waiting, she is loyal to a hidden society of mages. Ead keeps a watchful eye on Sabran, secretly protecting her with forbidden magic.

Across the dark sea, Tané has trained all her life to be a dragonrider, but is forced to make a choice that could see her life unravel.

Meanwhile, the divided East and West refuse to parley, and forces of chaos are rising from their sleep.

Thinking Face“This book took me AGES to get into. I had to force myself to continue reading. I got about 3/4 of the way through and DNF. I might pick it back up eventually but I definitely am not finishing it this month. I loved the characters, the world building, loved the world itself and the dragons. But it just didn’t catch me and suck me in.”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“I have never completed such a brick of a book, but I did it! And I am not disappointed. It starts off with a lot of characters and religions and history, you have to wrap your head around, but after you get past that, it is amazing! My favorite character is Eadaz, I really liked her character story. The final battle was amazing 😍 I could imagine it super visually in my head like a movie and I was super satisfied with the ending.”

Thumbs Up“As far as fantasy goes, this was a good story, but lacked any real depth and emotion. There was no pull for me to finish this, the plot jumped around between too many points of view to maintain the storyline, and I didn’t find myself invested in any of the characters. Random spicy bits seemed out of place and didn’t add to the story in any way.”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“This is the first book I picked up in a long time and boy did I LOOOVE it. I will admit that it was very slow to start but I was hooked after about the 200 page mark. The world building in this book is incredibly immersive and beautiful. The atmosphere was addicting and left me craving for more. I wanted to stay in this world for as long as possible! Most definitely a new favourite of mine!”

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“This book has ruined all others for me, I'm not joking. Priory has changed my taste in books entirely. High fantasy, inclusive, loveable and hateable characters that are so well developed (other than Kit? that's my only negative comment I have. if you know, you know.) I literally can't think how to praise this other than recommending it until the day I die.”
