By William Goldman & Michael Manomivibul
The Princess Bride by William Goldman & Michael Manomivibul digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Here William Goldman’s beloved story of Buttercup, Westley, and their fellow adventurers finally receives a beautiful illustrated treatment.

A tale of true love and high adventure, pirates, princesses, giants, miracles, fencing, and a frightening assortment of wild beasts—The Princess Bride is a modern storytelling classic.

As Florin and Guilder teeter on the verge of war, the reluctant Princess Buttercup is devastated by the loss of her true love, kidnapped by a mercenary and his henchman, rescued by a pirate, forced to marry Prince Humperdinck, and rescued once again by the very crew who absconded with her in the first place. In the course of this dazzling adventure, she'll meet Vizzini—the criminal philosopher who'll do anything for a bag of gold; Fezzik—the gentle giant; Inigo—the Spaniard whose steel thirsts for revenge; and Count Rugen—the evil mastermind behind it all. Foiling all their plans and jumping into their stories is Westley, Princess Buttercup’s one true love and a very good friend of a very dangerous pirate.

The Princess Bride Reviews

4.0
“This book really got me going in the “framed narrative” parts. And while I dislike the character in that part of the book I respect the game. The zoo of death was incredible. Inigo and Fezzik’s descent into it was my favourite part of the book. The creative license Goldman took with this book is kind of mind blowing. It’s so genius it borders on insanity. It’s almost - dare I say it - inconceivable. If I didn’t have google (and Ali) I would still think that Goldman was a skeevy Hollywood guy, and questioning if Morgenstern was a real author. That’s what got me the first bit of this book. I was HEATED. Asking what the purpose of Goldman’s multiple alter ego’s was? I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s one giant farce. A commentary on Hollywood (definitely) and a commitment to bit that is unprecedented in any books I’ve read prior. While I might have hated Goldman’s alter ego in the book, I loved the story.”
