The Perpetual Motion Club
ByPublisher Description
Welcome to the high school of the future. The glee club is full of rock stars, the brainy kids hack permanent records, and the basketball players are as conceited as the cheerleaders. The walls are ablaze with six-foot-high logos of the hottest junk food, software, and clothing brands of the day. The popular kids are sponsored by Abercrombie, Microsoft, and Frito-Lay. You, on the other hand, can't even get a return text from Clearasil. Your best friend is a witch, your boyfriend a twerp. Your geometry teacher hates you and your mom is gleefully counting down the days until graduation. Guess it's time for another hit of iHigh.

“This book is written in a highly entertaining fashion. I love how all things slight our main character Elsa. Her teacher Mr. Brown’s views on the new student makes her begin to dislike him. As she sees his elitist ways about some things she becomes incensed and she goes off on rants.
Jimmy the twerp who turns out to be a very insightful and beautiful character is our Elsa’s Darcy although she doesn’t know it. Jimmy is artistic and a average student who is a challenge to Elsa’s views. He angers her, challenges her beliefs and yet is a constant support system for her and her biggest cheerleader next to her dad.
The surprise is the interaction with Jason and how this influences her life. Also the most hysterical part I must say is the revival like exhibition from renowned scientist Gerry Martin. It turns out to be more a revival than a view of ideas. The singing and declarations are hysterical.
What we learn from this book is that science and are are integrated and that we need to take the time to see the beauty in all things. The smallest most insignificant thing can be beautiful and special in its own way. Take Jimmy his beauty and talents lie beyound what others see.
It is a reminder that to be successful isn’t dependent on sponsors, grades or winning but on the satisfaction and joy that the act brings us. The learning process isn’t measured by a grade or success but what joy it can create within us and what we learn. We also learn to not judge a book by its cover because when we do we miss out on the beauty and kindness that lies within.
A wonderful book for us all to learn from that is entertaining as well.”
