The Night We Met

By Abby Jimenez
The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Say You'll Remember Me comes abeautiful, compelling novel that revels in laughter, friendship, and the messy choices life can throw our way.

In everyone’s life, there’s a split-second decision that can change everything...

For Larissa, it came when choosing which guy to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea she’d met the perfect man. She and Chris are great together, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy.

But Chris isn't the one who drove Larissa home all those months ago—Chris is her boyfriend's best friend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else. And he’s just not that guy.

The Night We Met Reviews

“This is what I want to see from a love triangle story... real stakes. The connection with Larissa and Chris was undeniable. With Mike bringing Chris into their relationship to stand in for him and give advice on gifts, Larissa felt there was a connection with Mike, too. In her eyes there was nothing wrong in the relationship. I like that the answer wasn't clear cut from her perspective. Or from Chris because that was his best friend's girlfriend. Chris and Mike were the real love story. The last scene with them made me smile. I liked Chris right up until he decided to cut off his friends because he knew how they felt without even speaking with them. I get the fear of rejection there but if they keep reaching out why you dodging their calls? I have smoke for Larissa too because she was accepted him doing that.”
“The pining and yearning was *chef’s kiss* but damn if it didn’t take until like 80% of the book for actual progression between the MCs. It just felt kind of unnecessary in how the conflict just..kept going. Every time I was like, “okay, this is it,” it wasn’t. I still love Abby’s writing, but this one honestly didn’t hit me like the others did.”
“this one didn’t do it for me. prob the only Abby Jimenez book where i didn’t cry (that’s saying something, im a crier). the “ending” felt rushed, which is saying something, as it was about 90% of the way in.”
