By Agatha Christie & Kevin Theis
The Mysterious Affair at Styles - A Hercule Poirot Mystery - Unabridged by Agatha Christie & Kevin Theis digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Every great hero has an origin story and for Hercule Poirot, it all began with "The Mysterious Affair at Styles." Agatha Christie's first novel to feature the clever and enigmatic Belgian detective, "Styles" was an immediate hit and prompted Christie to create over thirty books, fifty-one short stories and even two plays featuring her most famous creation.

In this story, when the mistress of Styles Court in Essex is found murdered in her room - poisoned by a lethal dose of strychnine - suspicion falls upon the two men who are next in line to inherit the estate. While the police investigate, word goes out to the famous detective - Hercule Poirot - who is staying nearby to come to Styles and look into the matter. Poirot - assisting the officer in charge of the case, Inspector Japp - eventually unravels the complex and fascinating mystery.

The debut novel of one of the greatest detectives in the annals of mystery fiction, "The Mysterious Affair at Styles" is presented here unabridged, as it was first published, complete with original illustrations.

About Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie is perhaps the world's best-known writer of mysteries and detective fiction. The author of sixty-six novels and fourteen collections of short stories, Christie is the best-selling author in literary history and sales of her books are said to number more than two billion. In addition, her play "The Mousetrap" is the world's longest running show, having run on the West End of London since 1952. She is universally acknowledged to be the "Queen of Crime," a title trademarked by her estate. Christie began submitting her mystery stories to publishers in the 1910's, but they were all rejected until, in 1920, she created her first Hercule Poirot novel, "The Mysterious Affair at Styles." She would go on to write thirty-eight novels and stories featuring Poirot, the stuffy but brilliant Belgian detective, including "Murder on the Orient Express" and "Death on the Nile." In the late 20's, Christie created Miss Jane Marple, a mild-mannered but brilliantly incisive old woman who lives in a tiny British village and helps the police to unravel a number of baffling mysteries. Miss Marple would appear in a dozen novels and twenty short stories. Agatha Christie often worked at a furious pace, sometimes churning out two or more novels a year. Her book "And Then There Were None" is one of the world's best-selling novels, having sold over a hundred million copies. Her books have been adapted into countless movies, television shows and stage plays and have cemented Christie as the premiere mystery writer of all time.
