Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“I have read this book thrice and never get bored of it. Everytime when I feel low I pick this book to be my companion. it's a story about a lawyer Julian Mantle, who is immensely rich and famous but following a very bad lifestyle. Just an incident of fainting in courtroom and his health getting deteriorating and then how he changed and the process of his transformation has been explained by him to John, the narrator of story. it's a self awakening book and very beautiful and feel good kind of thing. This book is a life changing, in a way. Must read”
Expressionless Face“I found this book after watching a reel shared by an American shark. Despite its reputation as a bestseller, the book did not leave as much of an impression as expected. Perhaps part of the reason this book is not good is because it was published a long time ago, plus the book uses a dialogue between two characters to convey life philosophies about mastering the mind, pursuing life goals, and building life. Build personal discipline. (1997 but really, many books from the same era are still valid today, right?) However, this method becomes the biggest weakness of the work. Dialogues are forced, unnatural, and often rambling just to convey a simple message. Compared to other works on Stoicism on the same topic, this book lacks the necessary depth and conciseness. Although the ideas are valuable, the way they are presented is so long that I don't know what I'm reading. Especially for those familiar with tightly plotted novels, the book's conversations can feel like a series of lectures unsuccessfully disguised. (Is there any man over 100 years old who looks young?) Although it still has certain values, perhaps this is not the optimal choice for people looking for a book about personal development in this era.”
