The Mirror of Cagliostro (Fantasy and Horror Classics)
ByPublisher Description
What if the most infamous occultist of the 18th century found a way to reach across time? Step before the mirror, if you dare, and invite the darkness of Count Cagliostro into your home.
The story centers on a man who acquires an antique mirror supposedly once owned by the notorious 18th-century occultist, Count Cagliostro. The man soon discovers that the mirror is a vessel for dark magic, capable of reflecting the spectral image of Cagliostro himself. The protagonist becomes dangerously obsessed as the malevolent phantom begins to exert a sinister influence on his life, threatening to extend the occultist's dark will into the present day.
Robert Arthur is best known as the creator of The Three Investigators youth mystery series and as the writer and editor behind many of the classic Alfred Hitchcock Presents story collections. Before he became a household name, however, Arthur spent decades writing thrilling fantasy and horror for the classic pulp magazines.
The Mirror of Cagliostrois a prime example of his dark and intriguing work. It draws its title and theme from Alessandro Cagliostro, the historical 18th-century occultist and adventurer notorious for his claims of magic, alchemy, and contact with spirits.
A perfect choice for fans of classic pulp fantasy, suspense, and stories that use the occult to explore the dark side of human obsession.
