The Minotaur Sampler, Volume 9 Reviews

4.0
“Another good selection of Minotaur books. There is one that stands out above all others: Amy Chua's The Golden Gate. The peologue is eerie, spooky. It immediately reeled me in, and I so want to read it to find out what happened to that politician found dead in this haunted hotel. I want to know who the kids in the beginning are, and how the interview knits into all of it. I requested the book on Net Galley. Keeping my fingers I will be approve for an advanced copy :-)”

About Jess Armstrong

JESS ARMSTRONG is the USA Today bestselling author of the Ruby Vaughn Mysteries. Her debut novel, The Curse of Penryth Hall, won the Minotaur Books/Mystery Writers of America First Crime Novel Award. She has a master’s degree in American history but prefers writing about imaginary people to the real thing. Jess lives in New Orleans with her historian husband, two children and ever growing number of pets and plants. When she’s not working on her next project, she’s probably thinking about cheese, baking, on social media, or some combination of the above.

Amy Chua

AMY CHUA is the John M. Duff, Jr. Professor of Law at Yale Law School. She is an internationally bestselling author of several non-fiction titles, including her 2011 memoir Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother, which was a runaway international bestseller that has been translated into over 30 languages. Chua graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and cum laude from Harvard Law School. After practicing on Wall Street for a few years, she joined the Yale Law School faculty in 2001. The Golden Gate is her fiction debut.

Celeste Connally

Celeste Connally is the USA Today bestselling author of the Lady Petra Inquires series, an Agatha Award nominee, and a former freelance writer and editor. Her mysteries are set in Regency-era England and feature a headstrong heroine, and as many equestrian scenes as her plots and editor will allow. She delights in giving her mysteries a good dose of romance, too, and a few research facts she hopes you’ll find as interesting as she does. Passionate about history and slightly obsessed with period dramas, what Celeste loves most is reading and writing about women who don’t always do as they are told.

Julia Kelly

JULIA KELLY is the international bestselling author of emotional historical fiction about extraordinary women and intriguing historical whodunnit mystery novels. Her books have been translated into fourteen languages. In addition to writing, she’s been an Emmy-nominated producer, journalist, marketing professional, and (for one summer) a tea waitress. Julia called Los Angeles, Iowa, and New York City home before settling in London with her husband.

Katrín Jakobsdóttir

KATRIN JAKOBSDOTTIR is the Prime Minister of Iceland. Reykjavik is her first novel. Katrin holds a Masters‘ Degree in Icelandic literature, and has been a member of parliament since 2007. Previously she held the position of Minister of Education. Katrin wrote her masters‘ thesis on Icelandic crime fiction author Arnaldur Indridason.

Steve Urszenyi

Steve Urszenyi is the critically acclaimed author of Perfect Shot and Out in the Cold. A former paramedic and police tactical medic specializing in SWAT and special operations, Urszenyi brings extensive real-world experience to his writing. His debut novel, Perfect Shot, earned nominations for three prestigious literary awards, including the International Thriller Writers Best First Novel, and Publishers Weekly hailed him as “a writer to watch.” When he’s not crafting intricate international thrillers, Urszenyi enjoys touring on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, hiking wilderness trails, and capturing the world through his camera lens. He resides in Toronto with his wife, Lynne.
