Publisher Description

Looking for a new book that will make your heart race? The eighth edition of The Minotaur Sampler compiles the beginnings of six can't-miss novels--either standalone or first in series--publishing Spring/Summer 2023 for free for easy sampling.

Standalone: From Nora Murphy, the author of The Favor, The New Mother is a tense suspense novel that builds to a gripping game of cat-and-mouse, as well as a searing exploration of what it means to be a “good” mother.

Standalone: Desperate Housewives meets The Couple Next Door in Melissa Adelman’s What the Neighbors Saw, a chilling story of murder and intrigue set in a well-to-do DC suburb.

Standalone: Seven women, inextricably linked by one man, must figure out which of them killed him in order to protect each other in Speak of the Devil, Rose Wilding’s electrifying debut thriller.

First in Series: In the tradition of Craig Johnson and C. J. Box, Bruce Borgos’ The Bitter Past begins a compelling new series set in the high desert of Nevada featuring Sheriff Porter Beck.

Standalone: From Sandie Jones, the New York Times bestselling author of the Reese’s Book Club pick The Other Woman, comes The Trade Off, a gripping new suspense novel set in the midst of London's tabloid journalism scene.

Standalone: New York Times bestseller Allison Brennan’s latest standalone, North of Nowhere, is an unputdownable race to the dramatic finish. Two siblings escape into the woods, searching desperately for safety—unaware of the severity of the approaching storm.

“The Minotaur Sampler is a great way to sample books before requesting them. I ended up reading two of these books - THE NEW MOTHER and WHAT THE NEIGHBORS SAW. I have another on my NG shelf waiting for me, and there are two more that I’d like to read when I have time! I shouldn’t read these when my NG shelf is already full, lol. Thanks to the publishers and authors for this gifted copy provided through NG. All opinions are my own.”
“I had an amazing opportunity to get a sneak peek at some incredible upcoming reads! I really enjoyed it and am excited to read the full books. My favorite is The New Mother by Nora Murphy. Nat is so self-centered and never seems to reach out to those around her who love her--her husband, family, and friends--even though she's clearly overwhelmed. Could it be post-partum depression? I'm eager to find out what happens next. Also, North of Nowhere by Allison Brennan where the book brings us along two children running away from their father with his former closest friend protecting them for five years--until they are eventually found anyway! They take horses and steal an airplane only for Tony (the best friend) to get shot while taking off; bullets hit an engine too and they crash land during a storm in Montana while their dad pursues them! Thank you NetGalley and for providing this sampler!”

About Melissa Adelman

MELISSA ADELMAN was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area, a first-generation American with parents from Haiti and Chile. When she is not traveling the world for her job as an international development economist, her favorite place to be is at home, an old house full of surprises just outside D.C. Melissa lives with her husband, two energetic little boys, and a long-suffering shih tzu. She holds a Ph.D. and B.A. in economics from Harvard University.

BRUCE BORGOS lives and writes from the Nevada desert where he works hard every day to prove his high school guidance counselor had good instincts when he said “You’ll never be an astronaut.” He has a degree in political science which mostly served to dissuade him from a career in law while at the same time tormenting his wife with endless questions about how telephones work. When not writing, you can usually find him at the local wine store.

ALLISON BRENNAN is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over forty novels. Most recently, she was nominated for Best Paperback Original Thriller by the International Thriller Writers and is a two-time winner of the Daphne du Maurier Award by Kiss of Death. Married for more than a quarter of a century, Allison and her husband Dan raised five children, and currently live in Arizona where they enjoy baseball's spring training and exploring the Grand Canyon. SANDIE JONES (she/her) has worked as a freelance journalist for more than twenty years and has written for publications including the Sunday Times, Woman’s Weekly, and the Daily Mail. She lives in London with her husband and three children. The Other Woman was her debut novel and a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick.

NORA MURPHY (she/her) attended law school in Washington, D.C., then worked as a judicial law clerk before transitioning to private practice. During law school, she participated in two clinics through which she represented and studied the issues facing survivors of intimate partner violence. A practicing attorney, Nora writes as much as she can, usually long before the sunrise or on her phone for brief moments when the inspiration strikes. Nora resides in Maryland with her husband, young son, and five rescue pets. When she’s not working, writing, or chasing her toddler, Nora can be found contemplating her next ice cream run or reading. The Favor was her first novel.

ROSE WILDING is a crime writer from the north of England. When not murdering fictional men, she can usually be found drinking coffee, reading feminist sci-fi, or posting more pictures than anyone needs of Pablo the chihuahua on Instagram.
