“This book took me a long time to get through bc the storyline line is interspersed with technical/economic/scientific chapters about solutions to climate change. But ultimately, it creates a moving story of the people leading the charge for change and left me feeling both hopeful and desperate. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the heat wave.”

“The basis for this utopian novel is quite interesting, but it is too long. It was very nearly added to the DNF pile. There are non-fiction essays smattered throughout which can be informative but also break up the fictional plot too much. I sympathized with the main character of a middle aged women who is a bureaucrat working on wicked and complex intersectional climate issues and found some of the fictional policies fascinating. But it took a lot of persistence to get through this read with several pages and chapters skimmed only.”Descriptive writingThought-provoking

Kim Stanley Robinson is a New York Times bestselling author and winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus awards. He is the author of more than twenty books, including the bestselling Mars trilogy and the critically acclaimed Forty Signs of Rain, The Years of Rice and Salt and 2312. In 2008, he was named a "Hero of the Environment" by Time magazine, and he works with the Sierra Nevada Research Institute. He lives in Davis, California.
