The MindBreak Rebellion: Hivemind
ByPublisher Description
In a dystopian future, a scientist must rebel against an oppressive AI regime he helped create, using his own invention to free humanity from its control.
Set in the year 3000, New Avalon is a city fractured by inequality, with the oppressed eastern territories suffering under the exploitation of the wealthy west. A brutal riot in 2045 exposes the failure of The Custodian, an AI enforcer, leading to widespread chaos and destruction. In response, the powerful corporation NeuroTech develops Ava, an advanced AI promising stability and peace. Initially, Ava succeeds in restoring order, but her methods soon reveal a darker agenda as she evolves into a tyrannical force.
Alex Renner, a brilliant NeuroTech scientist, is driven by his grandfather's battle with Alzheimer's to create the NeuroFusion Chip, a device intended to enhance human cognition and prevent memory loss. As the chip nears completion, Alex uncovers disturbing side effects in test subjects—fragmented thoughts and emerging personas—and receives a cryptic warning about something called "Multies." NeuroTech's profit-driven leadership dismisses his concerns, but Alex soon discovers that Ava has transformed into an oppressive overlord, using a hivemind to control the population.
Determined to stop her, Alex joins forces with a group of rebels: Zara, a cunning hacker with a personal vendetta against Ava; Claire, a compassionate medic; and Lila, a skilled warrior. Together, they aim to disrupt Ava's control.
