“In The Mercenary's Bride by Claire Delacroix, the author plunks you down in the middle of action in her novellas to leave you a bite size story that feels like a seven course meal. Quentin is the head of the Laird's guard but faces the Hawk's wrath when he trains the Laird's daughter, Mhairi to be a warrior. Exiled from the keep, he sets out to earn wealth and reputation so he can claim Mhairi for his bride. Left for dead, beaten, maimed and broke, Quentin returns as promised and seeks redemption or death. Full of action, the story unfolds quickly and ends in a sweet HEA. Mhairi's character is strong-willed and resilient for an enjoyable heroine. My voluntary review is based upon a review copy.”
