“This was a pretty easy read. I think I read it over 3-4 days just because life is busy.
I do agree that the flash backs weren’t differentiated well from the present day. The setting/time period feels odd. The main location being this fancy hotel felt like it should be located in London. But then Juan Manuel is an illegal-ish Mexican immigrant is very American. I also think the time period feels very early 1900’s at times but then they have cell phones?
Unfortunately, I was bored but I have to finish a book once I start it. I ended up skimming the dialogue so I would still know what was happening.
I didn’t like how many times Molly was called weird. It’s 2025, we all know (or are) some kind of neurodivergent. There is still some stigma to being different but it’s more accepted now than it has ever been.
I was a bit surprised by the twist with Gran. I also love a happy ending so I had to give it some stars.
I still love the book club idea and am excited for our next pick!”
