The Locked Door

By Freida McFadden
The Locked Door by Freida McFadden digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

Some doors are locked for a reason…

While eleven-year-old Nora Davis was up in her bedroom doing homework, she had no idea her father was killing women in the basement.

Until the day the police arrived at their front door.

Decades later, Nora’s father is spending his life behind bars, and Nora is a successful surgeon with a quiet, solitary existence. Nobody knows her father was a notorious serial killer. And she intends to keep it that way.

Then Nora discovers one of her young female patients has been murdered. In the same unique and horrific manner that her father used to kill his victims.

Somebody knows who Nora is. Somebody wants her to take the fall for this unthinkable crime. But she’s not a killer like her father. The police can’t pin anything on her.

As long as they don’t look in her basement.

Expressionless Face“2.25* I mean this was okay I guess. Freida’s books are very repetitive. Nora (the main character) was kind of annoying and, even though she’s a surgeon, made the most stupid decisions throughout the whole book. The story was alright, the plot twists were very meh. This is one of my least favorite books by her so far.”

Thinking Face“Freida McFadden's "The Locked Door" is a gripping psychological thriller that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. The story centers on Dr. Nora Davis, a surgeon with a dark past—her father was a notorious serial killer. When new murders mimic her father's crimes, Nora becomes the prime suspect, and her world begins to crumble. McFadden's writing is crisp and evocative, with a fast-moving plot full of surprising twists. Nora is a complex protagonist, and the book delves deeply into themes of identity, guilt, and the influence of one's past. The pacing is impeccable, making it a real page-turner. While some twists may seem predictable to seasoned thriller fans and a few might stretch believability, the overall experience is highly engaging. "The Locked Door" is a well-crafted thriller that explores the human psyche, making it a must-read for fans of the genre.”
