“I appreciated the overall storyline and character development—both were strong and engaging. However, the third-person omniscient point of view became overwhelming at times. I normally don’t mind this style, but in this case it felt repetitive, with many thoughts and scenes revisited multiple times. The book also felt significantly longer than necessary. There were stretches of unnecessary detail and repeated internal monologue that slowed the pacing. To me, this seemed more like an editing issue than a writing issue, as the core story itself was very good. With tighter editing, I believe this could have been an excellent book—possibly even more effective as a shorter, more concise narrative. Because my feedback isn’t especially flattering I received a free ARC copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.”
“This is my second book by Amy Clipston and she did not disappoint. I was able to get an ARC audiobook copy of this book and it is great. Super sweet clean romance that makes your heart melt. I haven't read the first in the series so I will be going back to do that as long as picking up any others I can find by her.”
“I have been a long time fan of Amy Clipston’s Amish books, but this is the first contemporary romance of hers that I have read. It was so sweet, which included a feisty reporter (Kaiah), a hot fireman (Reid) and an adorable little girl (Reid’s daughter, Piper). I liked the small town environment. I loved the characters, with the exception of the jerk ex-boyfriend. The only con for me in the story was the fact that this took place all within a month! Overall, I did really enjoy the romance and I will definitely read more of the author’s contemporary romances. Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Nelson Fiction for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.”
“The Lighthouse at the Cove is a cozy, heartwarming romance that feels tailor-made for readers who love Hallmark-style stories filled with small-town charm, second chances, and community spirit. With its scenic coastal setting and gentle emotional stakes, this novel delivers comfort, hope, and just the right touch of romance. Kaya Ross is an easy heroine to root for. Smart, driven, and emotionally bruised after a breakup, her unexpected detour into the seaside town of Coral Cove becomes the pause she didn’t realize she needed. The forced-proximity setup—thanks to a broken-down car and an apartment above a garage—feels familiar in the best way, creating space for Kaya’s guarded heart to slowly open. Reid Turner is every bit the dependable, warm-hearted hero readers expect. As a firefighter and devoted single dad, his quiet strength and steady presence add depth to the story, while his relationship with his daughter Piper brings some of the novel’s sweetest, most tender moments. Piper’s role in the story adds warmth and authenticity, grounding the romance in family and everyday love. At the heart of the novel is the Light the Dark Festival and the beloved lighthouse itself. The lighthouse serves as more than a backdrop—it’s a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and shared history. Watching Kaya and Reid rally the town to save it is deeply satisfying and highlights the book’s strongest theme: the power of community when people come together for something they love. The romance unfolds at a comfortable, emotionally resonant pace, balancing career ambition with the pull of belonging. Kaya’s internal conflict—choosing between professional opportunity and her growing attachment to Coral Cove—feels genuine and relatable, adding just enough tension to keep the pages turning. Overall, The Lighthouse at the Cove is a feel-good read that delivers exactly what it promises: a charming escape filled with love, purpose, and heartfelt connections. Perfect for curling up with on a quiet afternoon, this novel will leave readers smiling and believing in the magic of small towns, second chances, and love that finds you when you least expect it.”
“Audiobook Review: The Lighthouse at The Cove by Amy Clipston ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The Lighthouse at The Cove by Amy Clipston is a beautifully written, uplifting story about healing, faith, and second chances. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into the peaceful coastal setting. Clipston does an excellent job portraying realistic struggles - grief, regret, and the fear of starting over all while gently weaving in themes of forgiveness and hope. The characters are easy to connect with, and their growth throughout the story feels natural and meaningful. I especially appreciated the slow, thoughtful pacing of the relationships, which made the emotional moments feel earned and sincere. This book is comforting without being predictable and inspiring without feeling preachy. It’s the kind of story that leaves you feeling calm, encouraged, and reminded that light can still shine even after difficult seasons.”
