“Oh, Mariposa Island — where the sun shines bright, the lies pile higher, and the family drama could fuel a week’s worth of reality TV. 🌴🔥
Jennifer Mathieu does it again — she takes messy, complicated teens (and equally messy adults) and tosses them into a blender of secrets, love, and betrayal. The result? A story that’s beautifully uncomfortable in all the right ways.
Elena is the poster child for “I’m fine” while clearly not being fine, Joaquin is trying so hard to hold it together you just want to give him a hug and a sandwich, and their mother? Let’s just say she could give soap opera villains a run for their money. 😏
Mathieu’s writing is sharp, emotional, and oh-so-satisfying. Every chapter pulls back another layer of family dysfunction wrapped in lies that smell like sunscreen and regret. You’ll be both rooting for and side-eyeing everyone — sometimes in the same paragraph.
