The Layover by Beth Reekles digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

For readers who love forced-proximity, enemies-to-lovers, and grumpy/sunshine romances that also pack an emotional punch.

Fans of books by Sophie Kinsella and Sally Thorne.

Gemma is the maid of honor, but her intentions are anything but honorable. After years of watching the bride get everything she worked for, losing her promotion on the eve of the wedding is the last straw. Armed with an incriminating video from the hen party, Gemma's plan to finally get even is in motion: she's going to stop this wedding.

Leon thinks his sister is making a huge mistake getting married. Colossal. The groom is rude and uptight, and he's turned his sister into someone unrecognizable. If he could just get her alone for one quick, honest conversation, he's sure he could save her from making the biggest mistake of her life. He has to stop this wedding.

Francesca and the groom have been close for years and once shared a perfect night together—until he met the bride-to-be. But she's convinced he still loves her; that he's the “one that got away.” This is her last chance to finally confess her love for him, or risk losing him forever. She must stop this wedding.

When bad weather grounds their flight, the trio meet. Faced with a ten-hour layover and nothing to do but get to know one another, it’s not long before their plans are revealed. Ten hours should be more than enough time to figure out how to get what they all want, or to change their minds—and their lives—completely.

The Layover Reviews

“This book was a nice easy read and I enjoyed the premise of them being stuck in the airport. In the beginning I didn't particularly like any of the characters but grew to appreciate them all individually and as a group by the end. Some good chuckles throughout and the ending was perfect for me 😊”
Rolling on the Floor Laughing Face“The Layover was exactly the palate cleanser I needed after a run of heavier books. I expected a funny wedding disaster with plenty of travel chaos, but what I got was a surprisingly heartfelt story about friendship, self-worth and learning when it’s okay to walk away. I loved how the three narrators—Leon, Gemma and Francesca—all started the journey with completely different reasons for wanting to stop the wedding. As the story unfolded, it became less about ruining the wedding and more about each of them realising they deserved better than the people who had been hurting them. The standout for me was the friendship that developed between the three of them. Watching complete strangers become each other’s biggest supporters was genuinely lovely, and by the end I cared far more about that than whether the wedding actually happened. Leon was such a sweetheart, Gemma’s character growth was probably my favourite, and seeing Francesca finally recognise her own worth was incredibly satisfying. Marcus and Kayleigh? They absolutely deserved each other. 😂 The humour landed well throughout, there were some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments, and the ending on the beach with limoncello and macarons felt like the perfect way to wrap everything up. In fact, I would join them in the beach in a heartbeat 😂 A warm, funny rom-com with plenty of heart that reminded me that sometimes the best endings aren’t about changing other people—they’re about changing yourself.”
“Easy to read, made me chuckle at parts. Did not see David coming😂”
