Publisher Description

Don’t miss the #1 New York Times bestselling blockbuster and Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick that’s sold over 3 million copies—now streaming on Apple TV+ starring Jennifer Garner!

The “page-turning, exhilarating” (PopSugar) and “heartfelt thriller” (Real Simple) about a woman who thinks she’s found the love of her life—until he disappears.

Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother.

As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was. And that Bailey just may hold the key to figuring out Owen’s true identity—and why he really disappeared.

Hannah and Bailey set out to discover the truth. But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen’s past, they soon realize they’re also building a new future—one neither of them could have anticipated.

With its breakneck pacing, dizzying plot twists, and evocative family drama, The Last Thing He Told Me is a “page-turning, exhilarating, and unforgettable” (PopSugar) suspense novel.

Thinking Face“I will say I like the book and i was invested in solving the mystery. It's an easy short read. However, I wasn't blown away and I was expecting some big twists and they just weren't there. I had a few unanswered questions too. Overall it's a good story.”
Slightly Smiling Face“Potential spoilers! For someone who never reads mystery or suspense books I will say this one surprised me. I am a huge wimp (like lord of the rings scared me as a kid) and this book being suspense kind of scared me to read. I found this book on a goodwill, and I was drawn to it because seeing the show advertised sparked my interest. I thought this book was wonderful. I loved the action, the mystery, and that the relationship between Hannah and Bailey grew into something familial. I think their relationship was so beautiful and so poetic and it made my heart warm. I will say I understand Hannah needing to protect Bailey at all costs, but I definitely think she gave up too quickly. I will say she did a lot of very ballsy things and I loved her for it. There was a beautiful love story to it, but not between Owen and Hannah. I love the love Hannah and Bailey eventually grow into. I will be reading more Laura Dave for sure.”
