“A strange piece about the funeral rites in a fantasy realm, love, and the struggles of family and grief. There is gore and dismemberment (post-mortem), but in a detached, clinical way. The second-person narration and lack of names are used well, in efforts to make this very intimate, but the very oddity of this story has a distancing effect. Quite good, but I admire it more than like it. I don't know that it will stick in my memory, but would still recommend it to those up for something experimental and slower-paced.”
“Death. A subject shrouded in fear of the unknown. Markov does an excellent job expressing the regret, memories and sadness that is often felt when saying goodbye to a loved one. This could easily be a ritual observed in some far off land. Beautiful and gruesome.”
