Publisher Description

Utopian anarchists are pitted against rogue demon deer in this dropkick-in-the-mouth punk fantasy that Alan Moore calls “scary and energetic.”

Searching for clues about her best friend’s mysterious suicide, Danielle ventures to the squatter, utopian town of Freedom, Iowa, and witnesses a protector spirit—in the form of a blood-red, three-antlered deer—begin to turn on its summoners. She and her new friends have to act fast if they’re going to save the town—or get out alive.

Thinking Face“That was a really quick read but also a really good one. I think i still have a lot to learn from this book, and i will definetely read it again. I didn't expect to have a full course on anarchism but it was really interesting”
“With how quickly the demon deer in introduced, I thought we'd get a bit more from it than we did. I found the town politics interesting but the two human antagonists were very flat. I didn't care for the pacing and the main cast was fine but I didn't like any of them, which is a bummer cause they're all very Be Gay, Do Crime. Overall, I just found it boring with a bizzare mix of too much and not enough going on at the same time.”

Thumbs Up“This one was a quick little fun read. I had a good time and it was very easy to get through, but I just wanted more from it. It was lighter on the demon deer content than I had hoped, and it was surprisingly low stakes for the subject matter. Perhaps the most interesting part was the dynamics of Freedom, Iowa.”
