Yellowjackets meets One of Us Is Lying in this masterful survival thriller from New York Times bestselling author Sarah Beth Durst.

"Formidably scary, Durst's survival/horror story is the stuff of late-night campfire legends. With three deftly drawn, powerful girls at the center, reading felt like I had found a crew of clever, loyal best friends, even as I stayed up long into the night, trembling with dread." E. Lockhart, #1 New York Times bestselling author of We Were Liars

Claire’s grown up triple-checking locks. Counting her steps. Second-guessing every decision. It’s just how she’s wired—her worst-case scenarios never actually come true.

Until she arrives at an off-the-grid summer camp to find a blackened, burned husk instead of a lodge—and no survivors, except her and two other late arrivals: Reyva and Mariana.

When the three girls find a dead body in the woods, they realize none of this is an accident. Someone, something, is hunting them. Something that hides in the shadows.

Something that refuses to let them leave.

Thumbs Up“Sarah Beth Durst’s, The Lake House, was a quick, fun horror/thriller read. I can’t say that it really stands out from other books in this genre, but it was entertaining and worth a listen if you go the audiobook route.”
Surprised Face with Open Mouth“5++ stars I remember grabbing this book in 2023 because it was free, which I have a ton still that I haven't taken the time to look through and see about reading yet. But, this book had a character with my name, Claire, and I loved how I related to her a lot. She was a perfect mixture of myself and my fiancé. Me being the one who worries all the time and thinks of worse case scenarios and my fiancé who is a math nerd. But, this book will have you hooked from page 1. Three girls are taken to a place their parents say they went to for camp back in their days. But, they come to find that the lake house/camp area is burned to the ground. The guy who brought them to the camp isn't due back until August, 2 months and the girls are stranded there all alone, or so they think? These girls try using survival skills that they come up with together and they all bond very closely together throughout the entire book. Little did they know that trying to survive and not go hungry wasn't the only thing they need fear about.”
