Publisher Description

From bestselling authors James Rollins and Grant Blackwood, the first installment in an exciting new thriller series based on the Sigma Force novels featuring former Army Ranger Tucker Wayne and his partner, Army working dog Kane, introduced in the New York Times bestseller Bloodline and the e-original story "Tracker."

Former Army Ranger Tucker Wayne and his military working dog Kane are recruited by Sigma Force to extract a Russian pharmaceutical magnate from Siberia. A scientific genius, the drug tycoon holds the biological key to a new weapon system, a danger engineered from the ancient past to terrorize the modern world.

From the frozen steppes of Russia to the sun-blasted savannahs of Africa, Tucker and Kane must piece together a mystery going back to the origins of life on Earth—before the ancient peril can destroy the heartland of America, and with it, all of humankind.

“Really engaging story and I loved traveling along.”
“I've read a few books by this author in the past, but had not read about Tucker Wayne with the exception of the novella https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14288244.Tracker__Sigma_Force___7_5_ , which was offered for free a while back. I have to say, though, that I very much enjoyed this story! I loved the connection between Tucker and Kane and I thought the story was well done. Unlike many other thrillers, Tucker doesn't have some sort of super skill or power - he's just a solid soldier all around. His strength comes from Kane and the bond that they share. I wasn't surprised to hear in the notes from the author that Rollins is a veterinarian - that makes sense. And the backstory of Tucker losing Abel - well, I'm not saying that made me cry, but I definitely understand why Tucker is still suffering. The way that the mission didn't go smoothly - I have to wonder if that's not a little more realistic than some other stories. Tucker was thrust into this situation with little backup except Ruth Harper and whatever strange Russian she could find to help him. He trusted people and then found out they weren't good guys and he was constantly having to recalibrate. I actually liked that - it felt real. Also - I loved the narrator! Next book in the series: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22693168.War_Hawk__Tucker_Wayne___2_”
