The Karenina Chronicles

By Deborah J. Lightfoot
The Karenina Chronicles by Deborah J. Lightfoot digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

In the grip of a grief-fueled wanderlust after the death of her Earthly husband, Lady Karenina of Ruain — Nina to family and friends — escapes into unfamiliar lands, a harsh and distant country peopled with enigmatic characters: the Leviathan, the Nomad, the Outcast, and the Wolf. In their company she finds adventure, danger, champions, and rogues — some of the latter worth killing, but at least one worth loving.

House Verek lives on. Continue the family saga that began in the Waterspell fantasy quartet (Warlock, Wysard, Wisewoman, Witch). Follow the further adventures of eldest daughter Nina in The Karenina Chronicles.

Chronologically fifth in the series, The Karenina Chronicles is a standalone story which is fully accessible to readers who have no knowledge of the previous four books. This entry in the series can be approached as an introduction to the Waterspell universe.

"A marvelously complex and captivating fantasy series." —The Published Page

About Deborah J. Lightfoot

Deborah J. Lightfoot, a native of West Texas, got her love of history from her grandfather, a High Plains cowboy. From her mother, an artist and avid reader, came her love of books and all things mysterious and magical. Dark horsemen entered her imagination through such early influences as the television show Have Gun Will Travel, in which Richard Boone's Paladin was "a knight without armor in a savage land." Small matter that the sophisticated Paladin wielded a six-shooter instead of a sword.

Six-shooters figure in Lightfoot's award-winning books of Western history and biography, The LH7 Ranch and Trail Fever. Swords and sorcery provide the action in her epic fantasy series, Waterspell, a six-book saga with medieval overtones and historical background. Adverse Reactions, a Western/paranormal/fantasy blend, brings together her various interests in a cross-genre work of dystopian speculative fiction.

With a journalism degree summa cum laude from Texas A&M University, Lightfoot has worked on both sides of the editorial desk for periodical and book publishers. She has taught creative writing at the college level and won numerous writing awards. She's a professional member of The Authors Guild and still lives in rural Texas.
