“Only finished Book 1*** : I somewhat enjoyed the book but overall not for me and I don’t think I’ll finish the series
I enjoyed the way the story is told. The first person POV made learning the world and political system interesting without a bunch of info dumping
I think the story overall is intriguing- we focus largely on power, lineage, slavery & manipulation of gods while trying to uncover secrets and history of the main character’s family
There is romance in the book (a little more than I anticipated) that I didn’t love. It didn’t feel like a lot of the romantic areas blended well with the story in my opinion
The characters are imperfect which always makes for an entertaining and unpredictable story but I’m ultimately not very interested in knowing what happens next”
