A steamy enemies-to-lovers romance, magic, and destiny are swept together in The Hurricane Wars, the spellbinding debut in a fantasy romance trilogy set in a Southeast Asia–inspired world

All Talasyn has ever known is the Hurricane Wars. Growing up an orphan in a nation under siege by the ruthless Night Emperor, she found her family among the soldiers who fight for freedom. But Talasyn is hiding a deadly secret: light magic runs through her veins, a blazing power that can cut through the Night Empire’s shadows, believed to have been wiped out years ago.

Prince Alaric is his father’s weapon, sworn to obliterate any threats to the Night Empire’s rule with his mighty shadow magic. He and Talasyn lock into a deadly dance that neither can seem to truly win, until, in a clash of light and dark, their powers merge to create a strange new force—and a dangerous, forbidden attraction reveals itself.

This war can only end with them. But an even greater danger is coming, and Talasyn and Alaric must decide... can they work together to save their world, or will they end up destroying each other?

The Hurricane Wars Reviews

3.5
“So I did really like this book, but it was slow at the beginning - I completely understand that you have to do a lot of world and character building (and the world building is probably one of the best I have ever read! stunning and beautifully descriptive!) but it took a good 150-200 pages for this book to get really good, hence the rating. The storyline was brilliant, very unique with a very interesting enemies-to-loves-to-enemies to who the hell knows? haha. And I liked that it kept you guessing and the turmoil they are both clearly going through. And the politics and plotting within it were fabulous and really added to that, which was great. And the cliffhangers and loose ends at the end definitely leads me to wanting to read the second book. I would recommend this book if you're into heavy world building and like a slower pace to the main plotline. This has war, epic battles cones, politics and the FMC and MMC are clearly torn between their duties and their personal feelings, which is what makes this book so intriguing - and there are lots of smaller plotlines happening and coming off that which makes it really interesting - but it definitely wasn't a "eat it up on a couple of days" kind of book like some others I have read”
“4.5⭐️ „Do you make it a habit to complement everyone who’s trying to kill you?“ „Not everyone. Just you.“ I am confused 😅 This book started so strong, I loved the aspects with the military and so on! The world building is pretty good, and I love the magic system! It’s very interesting how the light and shadow magic are given by kind of the same creation ☺️ The end was what threw me off. The last few chapters weee very confusing and unsatisfactory for me, which is why the book got 4.5 and not a 4.74-5⭐️ rating I really enjoyed that this book has a strong plot with no spice, but the one spice scene in the end was not really necessary in my opinion and made me cringe 😬 I was annoyed by the miscommunication - or rather lack of communication - but the story and main character made up for that 🩷 Talasyn is a very unique and cool FMC, I enjoyed her perspective, tho it was written in third person. She’s a strong character but still human, she makes mistakes and breaks down, she isn’t just shiny perfection after training for two days! I honestly don’t know what to think of Alaric… he is quite cute but very morally grey, and the few breakouts he had, where he was kinda shouting at Talasyn made me dislike him. 🫤 All in all, it was a great story and you could easily skip the spice schneid you’re a younger reader! Great politics and plot, I recommend it!💜💛”
