“I have read Alice by Christina Henry before. I have enjoyed her books. It's like comfort food. The plot is very predictable. You know exactly how it's going to end, but the characters are very likable. You got to see a contrast between 2 different approaches to unexpected parenthood. Maybe I read too much into it, but I really enjoyed seeing the different perspectives and outcomes that come fron taking on the very difficult role of the parent and just hoping you are doing it right. There were a few creepy moment but they were mostly in the last 20 minutes of the book. I loved the pandemic setting in the background because it takes you back to that odd uncertain time which adds more dread to an already desperate economic situation for Harry. It never feels gimmicky but relevant to the ambiance of isolation, loneliness, and desperation.
