“I enjoyed this, but I normally do enjoy Laura Purcell’s work. I bought House of Whispers and then figured out that it is identical to Bone China which I had finished long ago. I enjoyed it as Bone China so I don’t mind reading it again.
This is a dual timeline novel. In the newest timeline, Miss Pinecroft is an elderly woman in poor health working hard to watch over those who live in her house. She has been there since her father moved them to the area to start his tuberculosis curative regimen. Strange things are happening and the new lady’s maid brings secrets of her own.”

Laura Purcell is the author of The Silent Companions and The Poison Thread. She worked in local government, the financial industry and a bookshop before becoming a full-time writer. She lives in Colchester, the oldest recorded town in England, with her husband and pet guinea pigs. Fascinated by the darker side of royal history, Laura has also written two historical fiction novels about the Hanoverian dynasty.
