The Highlander's Unexpected Bride Reviews

“Hamilton has made a bet with his brother that he can find a bride before the end of the summer and to win this bet he asks for the help of his childhood friend Beileag. But as Hamilton and Beileag learn very quickly bets, love and romance are never a good combination. I do love a historical romance and this had everything I wanted in a story. It had a friends to lovers trope with a slow burn romance with a dash of the miscommunication trope. I really adored the storyline and seeing Hamilton and Beileag become closer. Beileag was a very intriguing character but one that is understated and under appreciated. I felt so sad for her at the start of the book when she was mistreated by her mother because her mother believed that due to her being very tall she wasn’t considered beautiful and wouldn’t find a husband. As someone who is very short it felt like she was being blamed for something that was out of her control. What no one seemed to appreciate was the fact that Beileag is a very skilled carpenter and artist. Learning from her father (and borrowing his tools) she has set up a little workshop in the woods where she carves figurines in secret. The dynamics between Hamilton and Beileag were very interesting. They are childhood friends so they know each other quite well or so they think. What did come across is that they are both as clueless as each other when it comes to love, relationships and expressing how they feel especially when what they have been looking for has been staring them in the face the whole time. When Hamilton enters into the bet what I didn’t realise is that the person he had his sights on wasn’t Beileag but another one of their friends. But then things become a little complicated when Hamilton starts seeing Beileag in another light and something more than a friend. When Hamilton realises its Beileag he wants he has to continue pretending to be interested in the bet so he can continue to speak to Beileag and spend time with her. I loved the chemistry between Hamilton and Beileag because it was off the scale. As soon as they shared that first kiss they were both doomed to fall in love because they were meant to be together. It was so sweet when Beileag shared her workshop and figurines with Hamilton. It clearly showed how much she trusted him to tell him such an important secret that was very close to her. One of my favourite descriptions in the book is when Hamilton is following Beileag to her workshop and he describes her as a fae dancing through the woods. This description made the scene so magical. If you love historical romance then this is a book to add to your list.”
“The Highlanders Unexpected Bride is book 2 of the Lovers and Highlanders series. I really enjoyed the first book so was happy to join the tour for book 2. The Highlanders Unexpected Bride tells the story of Hamilton and his bet with his twin brother to marry by years end. The first book was his twin Camerons story whilst this book shares Hamiltons story of how he asks a childhood friend Beileag to help him woo his perfect woman, however he can't stop thinking of Beileag. Although a beautiful romance read I found it not to be as "spicey" and as fast paced as the first book.”
