The Healing Power of Trees: Spiritual Journeys Through the Celtic Tree Calendar Reviews

“How is a tree a hoof clan.? Totem means clan , how is a tree a hoof clan!!!! I guess I’m related to a tree!”
“I will be very blunt. This was an awful book. It belongs in the bin. It serves a better purpose as tree food than reading material and even then it might still give the trees indigestion. This is likely the least informed book on the Celtic Tree Calendar that I have ever had the misfortune to read and that is even considering that the calendar was a 1940s creation by Robert Graves and not connected in the least with what we really know about the actual ancient Irish. The bibliography is seriously lacking. The book has exactly 2 sources from before the 1970s and one of those sources is the white Goddess by Robert graves. It tries and fails miserably to combine runes, astrology, totems, Tarot and Ogham into a single cohesive system. The meanings of the Ogham, the system to which I am most familiar, regularly do not match three other sources that I have in my personal collection, all of which draw from primary sources. Robert Graves is mentioned briefly in all three as a warning of what happens when you do not check your sources or are flagrantly mistranslating what you do not understand. I would not recommend this book to anyone! It is a waste of time, money and paper. I would recommend these books if you are looking into anything actual Irish and based in reality. Ogham: The secret Language of the Druids by Rev. Robert Skip Ellison or Ogam: Weaving Word Wisdom by Erynn Rowan Laurie. Both of these have expansive bibliographies and are also a great read.”
