The Gwendy Trilogy (Boxed Set) Reviews

4.0
“Right before she enters middle school, Gwendy meets a strange man who asks her to protect a mysterious box. He gives her a bit of an idea of what this box can do and that it must be protected at all costs. Gwendy casts her stranger danger fear aside and agrees. Each novella represents a key time in her life. Gwendy’s Button Box: This one by far is my favorite and is more of a coming-of-age tale as Gwendy navigates her way through school with the box. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Gwendy’s Magic Feather: This one picks up as Gwendy, now married, has just become a state representative for Maine. During a congressional break, she travels home and immediately finds herself drawn to a case of local missing girls. I found this one to be very good but ultimately kind of out of place from the first one. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Gwendy’s Final Task: Gwendy is now in her 60s and again finds herself in possession of the box. The box itself is beginning to become stronger and harder to protect. Gwendy’s final task with the box is to make sure no one can ever use it nefariously. I felt this one was more reminiscent of the first novella especially when it came to Gwendy herself. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2 Overall, I’m glad I was able to purchase this as a trilogy to read all at once. They’re also was several references to some of other King‘s novels which I thought was a nice touch. King and Chizmar did a great job of writing Gwendy‘s story and she’s definitely a character I won’t forget. 4.5 stars”
