“I’m not sure who the target market for this book really is. I picked it, because I was interested in the topic. I like that it gives recipes and starting points. The layout is nice, the content seems helpful. Yet, it’s missing something this I can’t quite put my finger on. There’s a lack of charm or soul to the book, even though it’s clear the layout and illustration took a long time. It feels somehow like it was created by a corporation and not a human. Perhaps that’s the nature of a book with a publisher? The need to strip out all liabilities and passions that would propel people to effectively vandalize for the good of everyone?
It’s hard to say. I wouldn’t not check this book out if it interests you, but I would definitely give it a flip through before you buy it.
Thank you NetGalley and Chronicle Books for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.”
“This guide provides valuable content for both beginners and more experienced artists alike! It starts off with a quick history of guerilla art and its ethos. Before leading into easy and quick projects, then branching out into more complex ideas. All projects have detailed steps and supply lists. Some even have templates included in the book! All projects are as eco-friendly as possible, with a strong emphasis on leaving no permanent mark.
As a disabled person with limited mobility, I was worried there would be nothing in this that I could do. I was pleasantly surprised that it were a number of projects that are very accessible! I am now excited to incorporate some of them into my life.”
