Publisher Description

The next electrifying novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author duo behind The Wife Between Us.

"Propulsive and thrilling....A page-turner that will keep you guessing until the very end." --Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of Malibu Rising

Wealthy Washington suburbanites Marissa and Matthew Bishop seem to have it all—until Marissa is unfaithful. Beneath their veneer of perfection is a relationship riven by work and a lack of intimacy. She wants to repair things for the sake of their eight-year-old son and because she loves her husband. Enter Avery Chambers.

Avery is a therapist who lost her professional license. Still, it doesn’t stop her from counseling those in crisis, though they have to adhere to her unorthodox methods. And the Bishops are desperate.
When they glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger.

"An utterly compelling, spellbinding read." --Lisa Jewell, author of Then She Was Gone and Invisible Girl

Thumbs Up“I didn’t know anything about this book going in. It was different having the story told from two women’s perspective. I liked it. I loved Avery, she was very strong, independent and didn’t care what others thought. I was confused by Marissa’s thoughts and actions sometimes. I seemed to have a new question with each chapter I read, but they were answered as the story progressed. I’m so happy the end wasn’t a complete dump of answers for every situation. This was a good read.”

Thinking Face“overall i really enjoyed listening to this book! there were times i didn’t like one for the main characters. there were times i was fighting that a main character wasn’t going to be the villain. there were quite a few twist and made you feel one way over another. i do feel like one character was kind of dropped off at the end. like they just ended that story to quickly. i think this author could do a serious with avery customers if they all had something to hide. i would recommend.”

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“So I went in blind on this one knowing it was in the thriller category but it’s more mystery like and is kinda slower paced than a true thriller book. BUT I was left wanting to know more at the end of each chapter! It is dual POV between a therapist and a client, both female which is neat. It had really great world building and character development that keeps you invested. Overall I liked the story quite a bit though!”

Thumbs Up“Well written and an easy read. The twists got me and it was very surprising. A few character could have been left out, but overall, very good read.”

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“I really enjoyed this book! I was surprised by the ending and maybe that is because I don’t think that hard when reading 😂. I liked the use of the characters with some being a distraction from others and others being well unliked. It was a great suspenseful book with great twists.”
