“This is a wonderful story about a young woman during WWII. She is just coming of age when the Germans start to be interested in Italy. She starts to work for the resistance, and from there, things get interesting. She never does anything violent, just moves messages and supplies, such as food, from one place to the other.
The other person in the story is a widow who had found his lifetime love. He is then drafted to go to the frontlines to help the fighters. He is a surgeon. Love so deep that it gets ripped apart before it has a chance to start.
The stories have both people looking inward to discover new hopes and dreams. Interesting in time, place and characters the end goes in a direction I didn't see.”
