The Freedom in Captivity

By M.L. Philpitt
The Freedom in Captivity by M.L. Philpitt digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

There are three sides to every story: his, hers, and the truth. Rozelyn De Falco has been branded an enemy and captured by the Corsetti family, intent to torture her father's location from her. But Rozelyn has her own plans, and being imprisoned is merely one she already has in place.

Flynn Rhodes, enforcer of the Corsetti family, gains more than just a captive in Rozelyn. He finds his past. A girl he cared for when they both had different lives. But their past was a lie, and Flynn only cares about vengeance and the oaths he's taken. In the end, freedom is simply a concept and the line between love and hate is faint.

“While I absolutely loved this story in so many ways, Flynn made this book almost unbearable. I adore Roz and her story broke me in so many ways. I hated her and what she did to Della, but then reading her story. Things that were done to her, ugh my heart! I screamed and cried right along with her. I just couldn't stand Flynn. I feel, even after everything, he didn't deserve her. For all the love he had for her, she was nothing more than a possession. And the way he treated her, even after the truth came out, it was just crappy. But I did love the whole plot! I can't wait to see Ariella and Ericos story. And now Nico is boss! So excited to see what the next steps are!!!”
“I've read other books in this series so I knew the vibe but this one I dnf'd at about the halfway mark for consent issues. You cannot give consent if you're being held captive. It seems like the author tries to justify things because the two characters have had a relationship previously but that is irrelevant...that doesn't change that she is now a captive and cant freely give consent. I stopped reading after the female MC was given a room and she was afraid of what was going to happen next. She saw the male MC (aka the guy who has been holding her prisoner) as this lifeline in uncertainty and then slept together (again) because of it...it gave me the ick. There are other questionable things that happen in this book too but that's what did me in.”
